Indeed, it was a headache for Chaplin when he could no longer resist抵制 the talking movies and had to find "the right voice" for his Tramp流浪者. He postponed延迟 that day as long as possible: in Modern Times in 1936, the first film in which he was heard as a singing waiter, he made up a nonsense language which sounded like no known nationality. He later said he imagined the Tramp to be a college-educated gentleman who'd come down in the world潦倒. But if he'd been able to speak with an educated accent in those early short comedy movies, it's doubtful if he would have achieved world fame. And the English would have been sure to find it "odd".
All these developing regions区域 see advanced communications as a way to leap over跨越 whole stages of economic development. Widespread广泛 access to information technologies, for example, promises to condense压缩
the time required to change from labor- intensive assembly work to industries that involve engineering, marketing, and design. Modern communications "will give countries like China and Vietnam a huge advantage over countries stuck with困于 old technology".
It is easy to talk about having high moral standards but, in practice, what would one really do in such a situation? Some time ago a British car manufacturer was accused of指责 operating a fund to pay bribes贿赂, and of other questionable practices such as paying agents and purchasers an exaggerated commission, offering additional discounts, and making payments to numbered bank accounts in Switzerland.(早些时候,一家英国汽车制造商被指控经管一笔基金行贿,还有其他一些可疑运作,如给代理商和客户高额回扣、提供额外折扣、向一些在瑞士银行开的匿名账户汇款等。) The company rejected否认 these charges and they were later withdrawn撤诉.

What is the most valuable contribution employees make to their companies, knowledge or judgment? I say judgment. Knowledge, no matter how broad, is useless until it is applied应用. And application takes judgment, which involves something of a sixth sense — a high performance of the mind.
This raises interesting questions about the best training for today's business people.
